Our admission ambassadors are a diverse representation of our collegial student body. They are involved on campus and in the community. They are proud to share with you what Cumberland School of Law has to offer, why they chose to pursue their law degree here, and why they love it. If you would like advice during your decision-making journey to attend law school, please contact our Office of Admission to be connected with one of our ambassadors.

I chose Cumberland because when I visited, I immediately noticed a strong sense of community and the school's reputation for preparing students for practice. It stood out as a place where I would be both challenged and supported, and where I could build meaningful relationships with professors and peers.
JP Brasfield, Lead Ambassador
I chose Cumberland because of the people and its commitment to academic excellence — but one thing that really sets it apart is its location. Being able to go from class to lunch with a partner at a major law firm downtown — all within 10 minutes — is an incredible advantage. For those willing to put themselves out there, network, and learn from experienced attorneys in one of the South’s major legal hubs, Cumberland is the best place to be.
Selina Das
I chose Cumberland because of the many opportunities you have to grow here. With so many organizations, I believe there is a place for everyone here. I knew I would find a sense of community here at Cumberland. Although my first time stepping into Cumberland was during orientation week, I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in.
Ariel Dixon
I chose Cumberland because of the impact it had on me long before I became a student. Those who introduced me to the institution made such a lasting impression that I knew it was the right place for me. I wanted a law school where I would be more than just a number and truly supported, and Cumberland has done exactly that.
Bethany Griffin
I chose Cumberland because Cumberland felt like home. It reminded me alot of my undergraduate tour when I visited. Not only did I feel welcomed but I felt safe. I felt that I would be able to do great things at Cumberland because I would have the necessary support to do so. It brought me closer home to my family and allowed me to make new friends.
Jake Huggins
I chose Cumberland because I knew that this was a place where I could thrive, and be the absolute best I can be.
Brooklyn Hutchins, Lead Ambassador
From the start, I was drawn to the supportive environment and the faculty’s commitment to their students’ success, and that has only been reinforced throughout my time here.
Bill Mouchette
I chose Cumberland for law school because for me, Samford is home. I studied as an undergraduate student at Samford and during that time, I grew in my character, faith, and intellect more than at any other time in my life. So when choosing where to attend law school there was no question, Samford's Cumberland School of Law is where I wanted to continue to learn and grow.
Emma Murphree
I went to Samford for undergrad and loved it so much that I wanted to stay here for three more years. Through tours, open house, and Admitted Student Day, I learned that Cumberland was a unique place where everyone was given individualized attention in order to foster personal and professional growth. All of the students I met were genuine about how much they loved Cumberland and what opportunities it provided them with. From the very beginning, I knew that it would be a perfect fit for me!
Bailey Parsons
I chose Cumberland because of its reputation as a strong law school with a supportive environment, which was exactly what I was looking for. I was also drawn to its deep ties to the Birmingham legal market. As someone from the Birmingham area, being able to attend law school close to home has made the experience especially rewarding.
Yechiel Peterson
I chose Cumberland because, when I toured, I could clearly see people who reflected parts of my own story and they made that vision feel real. It allowed me to imagine a community where I could feel supported, comfortable, and confident in my ability to grow without compromising parts of my identity for the sake of any pseudo professionalism.
Cole Ramsey
I chose Cumberland because from the moment I toured, it felt like home. There was something different about the environment; people were welcoming, conversations felt genuine, and it was clear that students weren’t just competing with each other, they were supporting each another. That sense of community stood out immediately.
Catherine Rogers
I chose Cumberland for the opportunities to get involved on campus and gain hands-on experience. I knew that Cumberland would prepare me well going into a career in the legal profession because of the opportunities to participate in several on-campus organizations, along with opportunities to compete with incredible trial advocacy, moot court, and alternative dispute resolution teams. Having received my undergraduate degree from Samford, I have seen first-hand the university's commitment to its students and can confidently say that that commitment extends to the law school.
John Sharbel
Cumberland focuses on real-world student success, rather than just the on-paper bragging points.
