What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?
The best thing about Cumberland to me is that the school goes above and beyond for its students and truly prepares you early on to be successful while also supporting you every step of the way. The people here are one of a kind and genuinely want to see you succeed. While the school guides you throughout the admissions process, that support does not stop once you become a student. The people at Cumberland continue to invest in you and helps you find your place.
Why did you choose Cumberland?
I chose Cumberland because of the impact it had on me long before I became a student. Those who introduced me to the institution made such a lasting impression that I knew it was the right place for me. I wanted a law school where I would be more than just a number and truly supported, and Cumberland has done exactly that.
What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?
I really appreciate the legal community in Birmingham, which is what I enjoy most about studying law here. The attorneys are incredibly supportive and always willing to serve as a resource for students starting their legal careers. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, and as a seafood lover, my all-time favorite is Pappadeaux!
If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?
I would tell my pre-law self to remember the three P’s: prayer, patience, and persistence. These are three things I would remind myself of over and over again, and they are the values that helped guide me through my transition from undergrad to law school. The process of entering law school can feel intimidating, but don’t let that discourage you from pursuing what you know you’re meant to do. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people who have gone through this process and build connections and resources while learning from them so you can do the same one day. What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to practice in Alabama, where I hope to advocate for individuals through my work and have the opportunity to mentor aspiring attorneys.
