Legal Interests
While I am undecided on what exact area I plan to practice in, I do know that I am happiest when I am working with people, solving problems, and being in the middle of the action rather than behind the scenes. I am energized by being around people, conversation, and a little bit of chaos, so I am drawn to any area of law that keeps me interacting with people and thinking on my feet.
Outside Interests/Hobbies
Outside of school, I love finding new ways to relax and unwind. Some of my favorite ways include listening to Broadway musicals, discovering new recipes to try in the kitchen, watching a good documentary on National Geographic (I strongly recommend "Unlikely Animal Friends"), and spending time volunteering at the Ministry Center at Green Springs.
What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?
The professors and faculty go out of their way to know you as a person beyond who you are in the classroom. They care so much about your success in life as well. I knew I’d be getting a strong legal education while also being surrounded by people who genuinely care about me.
Why did you choose Cumberland?
From the start, I was drawn to the supportive environment and the faculty’s commitment to their students’ success, and that has only been reinforced throughout my time here.
What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?
I appreciate the balance between big-city resources and a more relaxed atmosphere. I also enjoy attending events at the Alabama Theatre and spending time at local coffee shops when I need a break. Volunteering has also been a rewarding way to stay involved in the community.
If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?
I’d tell my pre-law school self to focus on time management and finding a balance between studying and personal life. I’d also encourage networking early on and reminding myself that asking for help is part of the process. What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in either medical malpractice defense, or prosecution, both of which I have had the opportunity to explore through hands-on experience via Cumberland OCIs and Externship Programs. While they may seem like very different worlds, both have high-energy environments, constant interaction with others, and the kind of work where no two days look the same. I am excited to potentially be in a role that keeps me engaged, challenged, and interacting with others daily.
