Legal Interests

At this point in law school, I have become especially interested in litigation, with a particular focus on environmental law. My studies in Sustainability Science first drew me to the field, and that interest has continued to grow as I have learned more about the legal tools used to address environmental challenges.

What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?

The best thing about Cumberland is the culture. There is a culture here of hard-working students and faculty all working together towards the same goal: creating the best law students and the best school possible. I believe that the faculty truly cares about each of their students, and they understand the important role that they have in our legal careers at this early stage.

Why did you choose Cumberland?

I chose Cumberland because of its reputation as a strong law school with a supportive environment, which was exactly what I was looking for. I was also drawn to its deep ties to the Birmingham legal market. As someone from the Birmingham area, being able to attend law school close to home has made the experience especially rewarding.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

I love studying law in Birmingham due to the wide variety of firms available. The firms in Birmingham cover every area, from large firms to small boutique firms. The practice areas are just as diverse, and this diversity gives every student a chance to try different things to truly find  their desired situation to practice law in.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

My advice to my pre-law self is to trust yourself and your work ethic. Law school will challenge you, but you have a fantastic support system here at school, and they want to see you succeed. It will be fine in the long run, and take a deep breath. Law school can be fun!!!

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on going to work at a firm and beginning my new wonderful life as an attorney!
