Each year, the annual Samford Gives Back event connects hundreds of volunteers with local community partners for a day of service and engagement. Coordinated by Samford University’s Frances Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership, this year’s event on March 18 mobilized 534 students and involved 25 different organizations across the Birmingham area.
“This day is important, since Samford Gives Back 2023 provided an opportunity to integrate the vision, mission, and goals of the university in our annual campuswide day of service,” said Sandra Wilson, the interim project coordinator for Samford Gives Back. “Our students served wholeheartedly with many community partners in a meaningful way and exemplified faith and leadership.”
This year’s theme was “Love with Action, Love in Truth” from 1 John 3:18.
“Samford students and I were inspired by the ministry of Jesus Christ to lead in discipleship, as He served others in love and truth. It was a very humbling experience to share and support the community alongside outstanding Samford students,” Wilson said.
