Focus on Sustainability

Samford University is pursuing LEED certification for its new Recreation Complex, highlighting a commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. This effort aligns with Samford’s broader sustainability initiatives, including designation as a “Tree Campus Higher Education” by the Arbor Day Foundation and partnering with Homewood on its Green Skies Initiative. In addition, a major component in Samford’s $30 million infrastructure modernization project with Johnson Controls includes a new chilled water plant that consumes 40% less energy.

LEED Certification
LEED, a globally recognized standard, ensures buildings are designed with innovative green practices, including energy-saving systems and responsible waste management.
