The Samford women's track and field team earned its fourth consecutive Southern Conference indoor championship in Lexington, Virginia. The men’s team also earned a top spot, finishing second.
The meet included a number of competitions including long jump, triple jump, shot put, mile run, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash and pole vaulting.
Top achievements:
- Senior Selena Popp earned her third consecutive conference championship in the pentathlon event
- Sophomore Morayo Bhadmos earned the championship in women’s triple jump
- Junior Karisa Nelson won her second consecutive championship in women’s mile run
- Four Bulldogs competed and dominated the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles. Freshman Titus Moore, sophmore Jack McHugh, and junior Emmanuel Tait swept the podium in the event, placing first, second, and third
- Junior Hugh Duggan continued the tradition of Samford men's pole vault champions. Duggan's victory marks five straight men's pole vault titles for the Bulldogs
- Karisa Nelson placed first in women's 800-meter run where she once again broke a SoCon record time
- Popp placed first in women’s high jump
- Sophomore Matt Cahoon placed first in men’s high jump
- Women’s team placed first in women's 4x400-meter relays
- Popp won the women’s Most Outstanding Athlete award for the second consecutive year
- Senior Bekah Pfitzer won the Women's Pinnacle award, awarded to the athlete with the highest GPA on the championship-winning team
