CHS Pedestrian Bridge

According to an Instagram post from Samford University President Andrew Westmoreland, if Mr. Beeson ever decided to take an unobserved midnight stroll, it would take him seven minutes to walk from his bench to the front doors of the College of Health Sciences thanks to the installment of a new pedestrian bridge.

The bridge, which provides a more direct path from central campus to the front doors of Samford’s new College of Health Sciences facilities, is a part of the university’s updated campus master plan.

“Every student I speak with sings praises of our new pedestrian bridge,” said Vice Provost Nena F. Sanders. “Not only is it beautiful, it has added a direct connection between our facilities and the rest of campus.”

Students agree. “I like the bridge because it is faster and easier than going through the parking lots in Beeson Woods,” said senior nursing student Ashley Jones.

Classes began in the College of Health Sciences facilities in fall 2016 for the college’s four schools: School of Health Professions, Ida Moffett School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy and School of Public Health.
