Members of Samford University’s Greek organization community gathered recently to celebrate accomplishments during the 2014-15 academic year and to honor the top chapters and members at the annual Greek Awards Ceremony. 

The following awards were presented: 

Outstanding Service Award: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, Pi Kappa Phi 

Jessica M. Smith Service Award: David Osula (Pi Kappa Phi), senior biochemistry major from Jasper, Ala.

Most Outstanding Philanthropy: Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Chi 

Intramural Sports Champions: Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Nu 

Most Outstanding Grade-Point-Average: Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega 

Most Improved and Most Outstanding GPA: Delta Xi Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha 

Outstanding Involvement: Julianna Hallman (Zeta Tau Alpha), Madison Miles (Phi Mu) and Margie Terp (Alpha Delta Pi). Hallman is a senior journalism and mass communication major from Jasper, Ala. Miles is a senior journalism and mass communication major from Duluth, Ga., and Terp is a senior journalism and mass communication major from Temple Terrace, Fla. 

Emerging Leader: Jalen Spraggins (Alpha Phi Alpha) and Lilla-Bea Granger (Alpha Omicron Pi). Spraggins is a junior business major from Montgomery, Ala., and Granger is a freshman pharmacy studies major from Pike Road, Ala. 

Administrative Operations Award: Alpha Omicron Pi, Sigma Nu 

Most Outstanding Interfraternal Relations: Delta Xi Phi, Alpha Tau Omega, Alpha Phi Alpha 

Outstanding Campus and Council Involvement: Chi Omega, Sigma Chi 

Recognition of Council Presidents: Hallman (Zeta Tau Alpha), Jake Moore (Sigma Nu) and Jhamall Wright (Alpha Phi Alpha). Moore is a senior political science major from Marietta, Ga., and Wright is a junior exercise science major from Nashville, Tenn. 

Outstanding Alumni Relations: Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Mu, Pi Kappa Phi 

Faculty Advisor of the Year: Candia Cole (Phi Mu)

Alumni Advisor of the Year: Sarah Hines (Alpha Omicron Pi)

Greek Woman of the Year: Kendall McPheeters (Chi Omega), a senior biology major from Owens Cross Raods, Ala. 

Greek Man of the Year: Jake Moore (Sigma Nu) 

Chapter of the Year: Alpha Delta Pi 

“I am beyond thankful to have been a part of the Samford Greek community and it has been a privilege to be able to serve Greek Life, Panhellenic Council, and this campus in so many ways,” said Hallman, the 2014 Panhellenic president and an award recipient. “The experiences I have had have helped shape me into the woman I am today. It was an honor to be recognized by the Greek community.”
