Samford University ’s Brock School of Business recently announced the 2015 Outstanding Faculty Awards at its 51st Annual Scholarships and Awards Ceremony held May 1 at Samford’s Reid Chapel. In addition to recognizing faculty and alumni, the Brock School awarded undergraduate student and graduate scholarships totaling more than $120,000.
“We are very fortunate to have such outstanding donor support every year to help us award these scholarships to our deserving students,” said Howard Finch, Brock School of Business dean.
Several Brock School of Business faculty also was recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Brock School. These awardees were nominated and chosen by their peers.
Barbara Cartledge, assistant dean of academic programs, received the award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. The award recognizes a full-time business school faculty member for outstanding achievements, innovation and performance in teaching at the undergraduate level.
Matt Mazzei, assistant professor of strategic management, received the award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching. The award recognizes a full-time business school faculty member for outstanding achievements, innovation and performance in teaching at the graduate level.
Art Carden, associate professor of economics, at the Brock School of Business received the award for Outstanding Scholarship. The award recognizes a full-time business school faculty member for outstanding achievements in research and scholarship.
Tom Woolley, professor of statistics, received the award for Distinguished Service. The award recognizes a full-time faculty business member for outstanding service rendered to the school, the university, the academic community and the public.
Finch added, “The dedication these faculty members have regarding students’ success, university service and meaningful scholarship is exemplary.”
