Former Samford University nursing dean Martha Bishop Hearn died March 31, 2014. She was 85.
Hearn joined the faculty of Samford's Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing in 1973 and served as dean from 1977 to 1986.
She had earlier worked with the Jefferson County Health Department and taught community health at the University of Alabama School of Nursing.
A funeral service celebrating her life was held April 3 in Birmingham.
