Samford University's Brock School of Business Financial Management Association students and the Bulldog Investment Fund managers recently were invited to participate in Quinnipiac University's G.A.M.E. (Global Asset Management Education) event in New York City.
The G.A.M.E. is a forum that is exclusively designed for business students and student investors, and the students get the opportunity to hear from the business world's most popular leaders. There were 1,000 participants from 118 colleges and universities, representing 33 countries, 44 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia at the forum.
"As students, we were very fortunate to be able to participate in this competition and forum," said John Hodge, participant and a Brock School of Business graduate in finance and economics. "We got to learn from people like Abby Cohen of Goldman Sachs and Guy Adami of CNBC's Fast Money. In addition, we studied topics that ranged from protecting a portfolio to investing in alternate assets. Overall it was a wonderful learning experience for us all."
The Bulldog Investment Fund members also participated in the student portfolio competition in the Core Style Portfolio Undergraduate Division. Samford's team placed 7th out of 50 teams. As a result, Brock School of Business students have been invited back to the event in 2014.
Established in 2008, the Bulldog Investment Fund is a student -managed fund. Fund managers are selected through an application process and are responsible for managing an investment pool of more than $1 million.
