The Avett Brothers band will bring its folk rock energy to Samford University Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in Wright Center Concert Hall.

The popular trio combines folk, country, bluegrass, rock and pop in its well-received 2009 big label debut, I and Love and You (American Recordings).

Originally from North Carolina, the band includes two brothers, Scott Avett and Seth Avett, who play banjo and guitar, respectively, and Bob Crawford, who plays stand-up bass.  Since debuting in 2001 they have issued 12 recordings, including their most recent Live Volume 3 album, in October, 2010.

Skilled songwriters, vocalists and musicians, the group has proven to be wildly popular at concert venues, especially college campuses, around the nation. Their Samford concert will conclude a week of Spring Fling events sponsored by the school’s Student Government  Association.

Tickets are $25 plus $1 convenience fee per ticket, and go on sale to the public March 15. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling (205) 726-4343. For general information, call (205) 726-2031.
