In order to better serve graduate students, changes to the Evening MBA program at Samford's Brock School of Business, the oldest in the state of Alabama, will benefit students this fall. Five nine-week terms per year will be replaced by two 15-week semesters and one 10-week summer term. Each course will meet during one 2-hour class per week and the student will have more time to study the required material. The new curriculum covers all business functions and is designed to offer a more complete general management experience.

Applications for Brock's Evening MBA program will be taken year round with opportunities to enter the program in January, June and August. Admission standards have been raised to ensure quality participation in all courses. By enrolling in the oldest Evening MBA program in the state, students will build a network of connections that will extend their influence and career potential.

These changes are designed to enrich the learning experience and better serve the student, " said Larry Harper, director of Graduate and Executive Education Programs at the Brock School of Business. "We have retained the flexibility and convenience for working professionals through the option of attending one evening a week. In addition, students can complete the degree in as little as 12 months by attending full-time or 22 months by attending part-time."

Another attribute of the redesigned Brock program is that it is values-based and students learn to make decisions using ethical business practices. "Managers need comprehensive skills and sound values in order to achieve the disparate goals of their investors, customers, employees and the public at large. At the Brock School our charge is to help current and aspiring managers to discover solutions that meet these goals," said Beck A. Taylor, dean of the Brock School of Business.

About the Brock School of Business at Samford University:

The renaming of the Samford School of Business to the Brock School of Business in December 2007 is the latest in a long history of achievements for business education at Samford, which has offered degrees in business and commerce since 1922. In 1965, the School of Business was established to offer both bachelor's and master's degrees in business. Alabama's first part-time master of business administration degree program was established at Samford, and the first MBA degrees were awarded in 1967. The master of accountancy degree was approved in 1995. The business school was fully accredited by AACSB International in 1999, a recognition earned by less than 10 percent of business schools worldwide.

Samford is a leading Christian university offering undergraduate programs grounded in the liberal arts with an array of nationally recognized graduate and professional schools.
