Curtis James, president and chief executive officer of St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, will speak at the Samford Business Network meeting Wednesday, Aug. 9. The breakfast meeting is scheduled for the Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham at 7-8:30 a.m.

Samford Business also will offer a two-hour Continuing Professional Education (CPE) seminar for accountants and their clients immediately following the breakfast. Frank C. Minter, Samford Business Executive-in-Residence and a trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation, and Samford accounting professor Dennis W. Price will conduct the seminar on "Key Developments in Financial Accounting and Reporting, and How They Affect Businesses, Jobs and Retirement."

The seminar is $50 payable at the door, but pre-registration is required at the same Web site or telephone number. The seminar is approved for two CPE credit hours.
