The Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership has honored 11 student leaders for exemplary service during their undergraduate or graduate careers at Samford.

Students were nominated from each of Samford’s 10 academic schools by the deans, and one student-athlete was nominated by the athletics director. These 11 Samford students were chosen as tops in their respective schools in combined academics, positive character, ethical leadership and service to others. 

The students will be additionally honored remotely via video in May and one of the 11 awardees will be selected for the Joe McDade Scholarship. The scholarship includes a one-time gift established by 1961 Samford alumnus Joe McDade. 

The Mann Center’s associate director, Allison Nanni, commended all honorees on their dedication to the university’s mission. “We are grateful to Mr. McDade for his generosity in offering this scholarship (to be announced in May) to one of these 11 accomplished students. Mr. McDade’s lifelong faith walk characterized by humility, confidence and service with others provides these exceptional students with an inspiration to continue as servant-leaders long after they leave the university.”
