Samford University placed 24 student-athletes on the Southern Conference's Fall Academic All-Conference team, released by the league.
Among Samford's fall sports, soccer has the most representatives on the team with 11. The volleyball team placed six members on the team, while football had four representatives on the squad. Men's cross-country had two representatives and women's cross-country had one representative on the team.
Samford's 24 student-athletes on the team posted an average GPA of 3.6.
Mitchell Smith (football) was one of nine student-athletes with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
