Bankruptcy law expert Kenneth Klee will address students at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law Thursday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in the moot courtroom of Robinson law building. His talk on the topic of municipal bankruptcies is free and open to the public.

Klee and his Los Angeles, Calif., law firm partner Lee Bogdanoff were hired by Jefferson County in July, 2011, to help the county determine if it should file for bankruptcy.  Since the filing, Klee and Bogdanoff have continued to work with Jefferson County lawyers in the matter.

A founding partner in the law firm of Klee, Tuchin, Bogdanoff and Stern, Klee is a professor at UCLA School of Law, where he teaches courses in bankruptcy law and Chapter 11 business reorganizations law, contracts, professional responsibility and a business simulation/clinical course on creating value through the renegotiation of business agreements. He has also taught at his alma mater, Harvard law School.

Klee has been a leader in continuing legal education in the area of bankruptcy and business reorganizations, and a consultant to the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee and the U.S. Department of Justice.  In addition to Jefferson County as a Chapter 9 debtor, his client list includes high profile Chapter 11 cases involving Barney's Inc., Sun World, Financial Corporation of America and many others.
