The Samford University Library will host an exhibit of works by Birmingham photographer George W. Ritchey Sept. 22-Nov. 21.
"America's Beauty, Birds and Buildings" features 70 photographs, many of which show Alabama scenes. The display includes both black and white and color images.
Ritchey has won many awards, including the Gadsden Museum of Fine Arts juried competition's best in show award and the Louisiana Council of the Arts 2008 fine arts juried competition people's choice award.
A longtime photographer for the Birmingham Zoo, he has provided photos for many area directories, calendars, newspapers, magazines and other publications.
His Samford exhibit will be displayed on the library's main level near the grand staircase and on the second floor reading area.
Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-1 a.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m.-1 a.m.
