The Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) at Samford University received the Government Research Association's top award in the category for Outstanding Policy Achievement on the State Level at the GRA annual conference in Denver, Colo., Aug. 5-8.
PARCA was cited for its work and report on School Property Tax Authorizations in Alabama.
Also at the annual conference, PARCA senior research associate Charles A. Booth was elected to a two-year term on the GRA board of trustees.
PARCA, founded in 1988, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research group that collects, synthesizes and reports information on issues of public interest affecting state and local government in Alabama.
GRA is the national organization for professionals engaged in governmental research, which involves the collection, analysis, and distribution of factual information on governmental activities to citizens and officials for the improvement of government and the reduction of its cost. It was founded in 1914.
