Area residents motoring along Lakeshore Drive may wonder about a British flag seen flying on a Samford University flagpole.
The Union Jack will be raised today (OCT. 19). A brief 4 p.m. ceremony will signal the beginning of a two-week celebration recognizing the 20th anniversary of Samford's presence in London.
In 1984, Samford acquired property for a London Study Centre. During the past two decades, hundreds of Samford students have lived and studied at Daniel House, a Georgian townhouse located in the heart of London.
Events include an exhibit of photographs made by faculty, student and alumni while in Great Britain. Photos will be on display in the Wright Center Art Gallery, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 27-Nov. 12. A high tea reception will be held Oct. 29, 4-6 p.m.
Alumni who have studied at Daniel House will meet for a reunion during Homecoming weekend on Oct. 30, 5-7 p.m.
