Emily Bourne, PhD is a registered dietitian nutritionist and a certified lactation counselor. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Auburn University and completed her dietetic internship at Iowa State University. Bourne’s doctoral research focused on understanding the beliefs and intentions of dietitians regarding breastfeeding support for prenatal and postpartum mothers.
Before pursuing her PhD at Auburn, she worked for Morrison Healthcare in various leadership roles, including traveling RDN specialist/operational lead, clinical nutrition manager, interim patient services manager, and interim director. She also served as a WIC nutritionist for Northwest Georgia Public Health.
While completing her doctorate, Bourne was the instructor of record for nutrition courses at Auburn University. She is passionate about professional development, leadership, and mentoring future registered dietitian nutritionists to excel in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
Bourne enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband David and their red standard poodle, Lady.
