In its 2022 rankings released on January 25, U.S. News & World Report ranks Samford University’s Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing 51st nationally, 2nd in Alabama, for its online Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) programs.

“Seeing our online programs climb in ranking is a wonderful accomplishment and I believe it speaks directly to the determination and commitment displayed by our faculty,” said Melondie Carter, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing dean and professor. “We are proud of the exemplary programs we have developed and the positive graduate outcomes the programs produce.”

In 2003, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing transitioned its graduate programs to online delivery and became the first school on Samford’s campus to offer online education.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on five criteria: engagement, faculty credentials and training, expert opinion, services and technologies, and student excellence.

“We believe a Moffett & Sanders nurse is distinct and we are proud to offer a variety of pathways and programs for nurses called to pursue an advanced practice degree,” said Carter. “Our online programs continue to be a great avenue for our students to enhance their practice.”

Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing offers a variety of online M.S.N. programs including: a RN to M.S.N. bridge program, family nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner with emergency specialty and family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Samford also offers a variety of Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) programs. Doctoral programs were not factored in the latest rankings.

The M.S.N. programs are eligible for the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing Nurse Faculty Loan Program which provides up to 85% loan forgiveness to eligible students.
