Cam Pearce, instructor of accounting in Samford University’s Brock School of Business, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA).

The ASCPA serves as a vital resource for accounting professionals across the state of Alabama, providing continuing education, legislative advocacy and professional networking opportunities in the field.

Pearce expressed enthusiasm about her new role. "I’m joining the ASCPA board to connect with fellow CPA leaders, help shape legislative changes and support ongoing education across Alabama,” she said. “Giving back to a profession that has given me so much is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up!"

With this appointment, Pearce follows in the footsteps of retired accounting professor Lowell Broom who served has previously served as an ASCPA president and continues a Samford tradition of contributing to the advancement of the accounting profession.

A key focus for Pearce will be advocating for accounting students and ensuring they have access to professional opportunities and resources.

"As an ASCPA board member, my goal is simple: to be a voice for accounting students,” Pearce added. “I want to make sure today’s students have access to the same opportunities and professional resources that helped shape my own career. Big changes are coming to the accounting profession, and I want to make sure students are part of the conversation. As a board member, I’ll advocate for the next generation of CPAs as they step into our field."
