Jonathan Skaggs is the Director of Enrollment Management for Samford University’s School of the Arts, leading undergraduate and graduate recruitment across the performing and visual arts. His work centers on storytelling and helping students understand their artistic identity, vocational direction, and sense of belonging.
Before higher education leadership, Jonathan built a national career as an actor, writer, producer, and theatre educator. He has performed with AD Players Theatre, Red Mountain Theatre, Virginia Samford Theatre, and Opera Birmingham, and has taught masterclasses nationwide in musical theatre performance and audition preparation.
As a creative leader, Jonathan has written and produced large-scale storytelling projects across live events, marketing, and film. As Creative Director for YM360, he produced three national music and storytelling tours reaching more than 150,000 people and led over 30 marketing campaigns. In 2024, he wrote, performed in, and executive produced the award-winning short film Ride On, which received 18 awards and screened at film festivals across the US including the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Jonathan is an alumnus of Samford’s School of the Arts and earned a BFA in Musical Theatre and certificate in Worship Leadership. While at Samford he met his wife and fellow theatre maker and the two of them share an adventurous and joyful son.
