Andrew was accepted by the U.S. Foreign Service on his first try. He previously served in at the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros, Mexico and now serves in the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
Todd Crider '87
Todd is among the leading business attorneys in Latin America. As a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP, he is co-head of the firm’s São Paulo office and advises clients in international corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. Among his many other activities in the areas of human rights and public service, Crider is founding chair and current vice-chair of the committee for the New York City Bar Association’s Cyrus R. Vance Center of International Justice. Crider was a 2006 Alumnus of the Year and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Howard College of Arts and Sciences.Michael Johnson '87
Michael earned a J.D. degree at the University of Miami (`92) and currently is a partner in the law firm of Johnston Barton Proctor & Rose in Birmingham, Ala. He previously served as Director of International Development with the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, legal advisor to the Brazilian Consulate General for the southeast and Honorary Consul of Brazil for Alabama. He currently serves as Honorary Consul of Germany for the State of Alabama. His extensive international experience includes 15 years of service to the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).Grace Weeks Márquez '42
Grace is a nationally-respected Spanish educator who taught at Samford 1955-1970 and again in the late 1980s. She served as department chair, founded the university’s first language lab and saw her students become prominent language educators in their own time. She was Samford Alumna of the Year in 1989, and in 2013 Samford’s Department of World Languages and Cultures honored her with the naming of the Grace Márquez Language Technology Forum.
Juliana Mucci '20
Juliana is the new Admission and Program Coordinator for the University Fellows Program at Samford University. She is a 2020 University Fellows graduate from Huntsville and majored in Political Science and Spanish. As a student, she worked with the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama and with international students through the Global Engagement Office. She also worked in the Language Technology Forum as a Spanish Language Coach.
