Samford University’s Department of Biblical and Religious Studies will host two prominent scholars for its spring lecture series. The lectures are free-of-charge and open to the public.

Timothy George will present the Robbins Lectures March 3 at 10 a.m. in Reid Chapel and at 3 p.m. in Brock Forum, Dwight Beeson Hall. The Robbins Lectures honor the memory of Ray Frank Robbins, another influential Samford professor and author who served New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Mississippi College in addition to Samford. The lectureship brings distinguished scholars to Samford to address the intersection of scholarship and Christian living.

Daniel Carroll will speak April 7 at 10 a.m. in Reid Chapel and 3 p.m. in Brock Forum, Dwight Beeson Hall, for the Dotson McGinnis Nelson Junior Lectureship in Religion and Life. Carroll is Blanchard Professor of Old Testament in the Graduate School of Wheaton College and author of Christians at the Border: Immigration, the Church, and the Bible. The lectureship, honoring the former Samford professor and pastor at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, was established to help Samford students grow in their intellectual and spiritual understanding of Christianity and its application to society.
