The BACHE Visiting Writers’ Series welcomes poet, woodworker and creative writing educator Kwoya Fagin Maples to Samford University on Monday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. in Brock Forum, Dwight Beeson Hall.

A Charleston, South Carolina, native, Maples is the author of Mend, a 2019 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award finalist for poetry, and Long Eye, forthcoming from Hub City Press in 2026. Her creative practice spans literary and visual arts, and she is a graduate Cave Canem Fellow.

The event is free and open to the Samford community and public.
