Shannon Skelton holds an MFA in creative writing from Georgia College and State University and an MAE in English education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her fiction and non-fiction can be found in Image journal, the Flannery O’Connor Review, The Lemonwood Quarterly, Ruminate Magazine, and Relief. Her teaching and research interests include creative writing, contemporary fiction and non-fiction, first-year writing and research, hybrid essays, the personal essay, Flannery O’Connor, lament literacies, writing and faith, the intersection of creative writing and composition pedagogies, and writing and human flourishing in the age of AI. Shannon taught middle and high school English in both public and private schools in Alabama and Kentucky before earning her MFA in fiction at Georgia College, where she taught creative writing and composition before joining Samford’s faculty.
