Legal Interests
My legal interests range from the transactional side of law all the way to litigation. Because I studied Business Accounting in undergrad and have a love for numbers, I am most interested in the areas of law that deal with business. However, I had the opportunity to participate in the Williams 1L trial competition and that opened my eyes to an interest in litigation as well. Because of this, I am truly interested and excited about all different areas and paths within law.
Outside Interests/Hobbies
Running, spending time outdoors, going on walks, pickleball, golf, tennis, family game nights, any and all podcasts, and cooking.
What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?
One of the best things about Cumberland is the professors. They bring their real-life experience into the classroom and relate it to the material we are learning. Even more than this, the professors know you by name and want to build a relationship with you so they can help you flourish in your law school experience and in life!
Why did you choose Cumberland?
While I never stepped foot on Cumberland’s campus before orientation, I knew Cumberland would be the place I called home because of the incredible legal education my brother got while at Cumberland and because of how intentional Cumberland was to stay connected with me and help me with any and every question I had. Cumberland never treated me as a number and always treated me as someone they wanted to have as a member of their family.
What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?
I love studying law in Birmingham because it is filled with such rich history, and I often see cases that I read in class relating to Birmingham which is very cool! I am a foody and coffee shop lover, so I love trying new restaurants in Birmingham and new coffee shops. I also love exploring trails around Birmingham, and I have family in the area which has been such a gift in making Birmingham feel like home!
If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?
If I could go back and give myself just one piece of advice, I would tell myself to find ways to be a daily source of encouragement to those in my section. Whether that’s walking into each class with a smile and talking to the person seated next to me or being willing to share a textbook, those small acts go such a long way in building relational equity and showing you care about the people you’re trying to become friends with!
What do you plan to do after graduation?
My plan is to stay in Birmingham and work at a law firm! I don’t know what that will entail but I am excited to see what area of law I end up in as I continue to find so many areas interesting!
